Our Scene - Keynote on DJ Scholarship

On Friday, the second day of “Our Scene”, guest-curated and hosted by Som•m•e Of Us, will host a line-up of lecturers, facilitators, organisers, curators and speakers (who are also DJs) as they unveil and reflect on the Black (Queer) histories of dance music and other cultural productions, while also questioning the space, if any, that nightlife could occupy within liberatory practices.

In this talk, Lynée Denise will demonstrate how knowledge is gathered, interpreted, and produced through a DJ-oriented theoretical lens. Using the 4 cultural practices of what she calls《DJ Scholarship》, LynnéeDenise will create a sonic map for her research and encourage witnesses to listen to a music-based critique of Black queer cultural production in the 1980s.
